How to Read League Tables and Top Scorer Charts on FawaNews

A league table packs a season into a few columns. FawaNews tables add a recent-form guide and colour bands that show what each position is worth, so you can see at a glance who is chasing the title, who is fighting for Europe and who is in danger. Here is how to read them, and how to use the Top Scorers tab.

Where to find the table

Open any league from the Leagues page and stay on the Standings tab. Competitions with groups show more than one table, while pure knockout competitions have no table and will say so.

What the columns mean

• #: current league position.
• Team: tap a club name to open its team page.
• P: matches played.
• W, D, L: wins, draws and losses.
• GD: goal difference, meaning goals scored minus goals conceded.
• Pts: points, usually three for a win and one for a draw.
• Form: the last five results, with a green W for a win, a grey D for a draw and a red L for a defeat. On very small screens this column is hidden to save space.

The coloured bands

A coloured strip on the left edge of some rows marks what that position earns. Blue marks Champions League places, green marks Europa League places and red marks the relegation zone. A legend under the table reminds you of the colours. The exact places vary by league and season, and places in other competitions may not be coloured, so treat the bands as a quick guide and check the competition's own rules for the details.

How ties are broken

When teams finish level on points, competitions use tie-breakers such as goal difference, goals scored or head-to-head results, and the order differs between leagues. Our guide How to Read Football Standings Like a Pro explains the most common rules.

Using the Top Scorers tab

Switch to Top Scorers to see the leading goalscorers in the competition this season, with their club, goals and appearances. Tap a player to open a profile with age, nationality and season statistics. On wide screens you see the club and appearances columns, while on mobile the list is trimmed to the essentials.

Combine the tabs

The Fixtures and Results tabs sit right beside the table. Check upcoming matches to see who a team plays next and recent results to judge momentum. Before a big game, our match preview checklist shows how all of this fits together.
